February 4, 2018 Records of the Day

In 1968 Simon and Garfunkel had their second #1 hit with “Mrs. Robinson.” It would win a Grammy for Record of the Year. Paul Simon would later say that the phrase in the song that went “Coo-Coo-Ca Choo” was an homage to the Beatles’ hit “I Am the Walrus” from 1967. “Mrs. Robinson,” released on Columbia Records, is worth not much more than $20.00 while the Beatles’ “I Am the Walrus,” released on Capitol Records,” can sell for $150.00 today with its picture sleeve. I guess Simon & Garfunkel were right to pay it homage.
