James Sheppard was the lead singer for two popular Doo Wop groups of the early Rock N Roll era. In 1956, he led the Heartbeats on “A Thousand Miles Away.” An original copy on a black Hull record label can now sell for $300.00. In 1961, he formed Shep & the Limelites and hit big with “Daddy’s Home.” The group would chart 5 more times before James Sheppard was found dead in his car on the Long Island Expressway. In 1962, Hull Records released the album, “Our Anniversary,” by Shep & the Limelites. It’s worth up to $750.00 today.
