In 1956, he led the Heartbeats on “A Thousand Miles Away.” An original copy on a black Hull record label can now sell for $300.00. In 1961, he formed Shep & the Limelites and hit big with “Daddy’s Home.” The group would chart 5 more times before James Sheppard was found dead in his car on the Long Island Expressway.
