Lefty Frizzell was born in Texas in 1928 and by the end of his teens he was singing professionally. His first single, “If You’ve Got the Money I’ve Got the Time,” was his first hit. Among his other best known recordings are “Long Black Veil” and “Saginaw Michigan,” each now worth no more than $10.00. Among the stars that claim Lefty was their idol are Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Willie Nelson. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982.
