April 22, 2023 Record of the Day

Born Frances Ethel Gumm, Judy Garland was only 13 when she signed with M-G-M. Four years later she gained movie immortality as Dorothy in “The Wizard Of Oz.” Following a few more film appearances she spent most of her time as a singer rather than an actress. Her turbulent and troubled life ended in 1969 as a result of an accidental overdose. The album, “Judy Garland,” released on M-G-M in 1951, is worth up to $100.00 today.
