Screamin’ Jay Hawkins was not only known for his raucous voice and style but for using elaborate stage props, many times rising from a coffin to perform his classic, “I Put A Spell On You,” which is now worth up to $200.00. Often wearing leopard skins and colorful leather, Hawkins originally wanted to be an opera singer. It has also been reported that he fathered up to 75 children. So maybe there are lot of Screamin Jays out there. An original 1956 album, “At Home With Screamin’ Jay Hawkins,” released on Epic Records, can get you $600.00 today.
