September 13, 2024 Records of the Day

Merle Haggard, inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996, grew up knowing the hard times of life and the poor side of town before bursting onto the Country scene with classics like “Mama Tried,” “If We Make it Through December,” and of course “Okie From Muskogee.” But at $10.00, that classic isn’t where the money is. His fabulous career all began with the 1963 single “Skidrow.” Released on the Tally record label, a copy is worth up to $600.00 today.
