The song was first recorded in the early 50’s by Sue Thompson of “Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)” fame and then by Patti Page. The most popular version before the Duprees made it their own was by Jo Stafford in 1952. In 1962, Coed Records released the “You Belong to Me” album by the Duprees.
