February 7, 2026 Record of the Day

Frankie Beverly never had any big hits on his own but he and his group, the Butlers, were good enough to open for Marvin Gaye at some of his concerts. When Northern Soul became a highly collectible record category, some of Frankie Beverly’s records were much sought after, like “Because Of My Heart.” Released on Fairmount Records in 1967, it’s worth up to $2,500.00 today. The same single by the Butlers with Frankie Beverly, released a year earlier on Rouser Records, can now fetch up to $7,000.00.
