“Earth Angel” by the Penguins was one of the earliest hits of the Rock and Roll era. Released on DooTone Records in 1954, it has sold over 10 million copies. On a maroon label, the 45 is worth up to $500.00. It would be their only hit. Their last attempt was a song called “Memories of El Monte,” written by a young Frank Zappa. Released on Original Sound Records in 1963, a copy of the single is worth up to $75.00.
