April 25, 2023 Record of the Day

“The Beatles’ Story” is a 1964 double album on Capitol Records. It’s really a documentary featuring interviews, press conferences, snippets of original or orchestral versions of Beatles songs with voice overs. The album was essentially an attempt to capitalize on public demand for the Beatles. Although it sold more modestly than their other albums on Capitol Records, in its first week of release it was certified gold. An original mono version of the album is worth up to $300 while an original stereo release can sell for up to $800.00 today.
