The 5 Royales was an early Rhythm & Blues group who had many of their songs later covered by other groups including the Shirelles who had a big hit with “Dedicated to the One I Love.” Most of their songs like “Think,” later covered by James Brown, were written by guitarist Lowman Pauling who is also credited with first using feedback on a record. In 1959, Apollo Records released the album, “The Rockin’ 5 Royales.” A copy can get you $1,000.00 today. Their album, “Dedicated to You,” released a year earlier, is worth up to $1,500.00.
