“Hey Joe” was the last song sung at Woodstock by Jimi Hendrix and mostly associated with him. The song’s authorship is not clearly known. First copyrighted in 1962 by Billy Roberts, a local California folk singer, the song tells the story of a fugitive who had killed his wife. The biggest hit version came in 1966 when recorded by the Leaves. The 45 “Hey Joe, Where You Gonna Go?” can fetch $50.00. Their “Hey Joe” album, released by Mira Records, is worth up to $100.00 today.
